Turtle Creek Restoration

In 2010 L.R. Falk Construction provided materials for a project headed up by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, the Mitchell County Soil and Water District, and the Mitchell County Conservation Board.

This stream improvement project was done to help establish improved bank habitat for a local trout stream. Turtle Creek is in the watershed area of one of our local quarries. To see this type of improvements and fisheries continuing to grow in this area is a positive sign for the stream water quality in this local trout stream.

Banks were dug out and fish boxes were installed to create habitat for trout and fisheries. The structures were then covered with large Rip Rap and covered back over with dirt. The Rip Rap also provided stream stability from high water erosion.

This project helped establish better trout fishing in Turtle Creek that is already visited by local and out of the area fisherman for years to come.
